Meghan Markle Returns to the Red Carpet in a Stunning Scarlet Gown
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are back on the red carpet.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made an appearance at the 2021 Salute to Freedom Gala in New York City on Wednesday. The event, which also featured high profile attendees such as Jon Bon Jovi, honors military veterans for the service and took place at the Intrepid Museum.
For the couple’s night out, Meghan wore a stunning, scarlet red gown by Carolina Herrera complete with a plunging neckline, flowing train, and a fitted waist. She paired the look with burgundy satin pumps by Giuseppe Zanotti. The duchess’s beauty look was fresh, glowing, and glamorous, with Meghan opting for her signature subtle smokey eye, flushed cheeks, and her hair pinned up in a sleek top knot bun. Prince Harry was dressed handsomely for the evening as well, sporting a classic black tuxedo for the special ceremony. Both Meghan and Harry wore red poppy flower pins as a nod to the U.K.’s own Remembrance Day on November 11.
The couple has been busy this week with their own separate endeavors leading up to Wednesday’s Gala. Meghan appeared on the New York Times‘ Dealbook Online Summit to discuss the importance of paid parental leave for all and economic equity for women, while Harry was a guest speaker at a recent WIRED magazine conference, speaking out against misinformation online.
“Look, there’s certainly a precedent amongst my husband’s family and the royal family of not having any involvement in politics, but paid leave, from my standpoint, is a humanitarian issue,” said Meghan during her conversation. “My husband has always said, ‘With great privilege comes great responsibility,’ but even before I had any sort of privilege in my life, when my life and my lifestyle were very different, I always just stood up for what’s right.”
