    “Friends would not have been the same without you. Thank you for the laughter you brought to the show and to all of our lives. You will be so missed #JamesMichaelTyler 💔,” Jennifer Aniston shared on Instagram.

    “The size of gratitude you brought into the room and showed every day on set is the size of the gratitude I hold for having known you. Rest In peace James. ♥️,” Courteney Cox wrote on Instagram.

    “James Michael Tyler, we will miss you. Thank you for being there for us all. #jamesmichealtyler,” Lisa Kudrow posted on Instagram.

    “We had a lot of laughs buddy. You will be missed. RIP my friend,” Matt LeBlanc captioned a photo on Instagram of him and Tyler on set.

    “James, thank you for playing such a wonderful, unforgettable role in Friends and for being such a big hearted gentleman and all around mensch off screen.You will be missed, buddy.#JamesMichaelTyler,” David Schwimmer captioned a photo of Tyler on Instagram.

    “James Michael Tyler Our Gunther passed away last night. He was an incredible person who spent his final days helping others. God bless you James, Gunther lives forever,” Friends executive producer Kevin S. Bright tweeted.

    “Warner Bros Television mourns the loss of James Michael Tyler, a beloved actor and integral part of our FRIENDS family. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues and fans,” the official Friends Twitter account posted.

    “The world knew him as Gunther the seventh ‘Friend,’ but Michael’s loved ones knew him as an actor, musician, cancer-awareness advocate, and loving husband. If you met him once you made a friend for life,” Tyler’s manager, Toni Benson, said in a statement. “Wanting to help as many people as possible, he bravely shared his story and became a campaigner for those with a prostate to get a… blood test as early as 40-years-old.”

    The Modern Music alum announced his cancer diagnosis in June during an appearance on the Today show. “I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer, which had spread to my bones,” he said at the time. “I’ve been dealing with that diagnosis for almost the past three years. … It’s stage 4 (now). Late stage cancer. So eventually, you know, it’s gonna probably get me.”

    The Scrubs actor still made an appearance during the Friends reunion earlier this year. “It was the most memorable 10 years of my life, honestly,” he gushed during the reunion special. “I could not have imagined just a better experience. All these guys were fantastic and just a joy to work with. It felt very, very special.”
