Mama Sez Write Letters

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) should be deciding on the contested air permit for Las Brisas soon - sometime this summer, possibly quite soon indeed. While they are supposed to listen to the state administrative law judges who ruled that the permit should not be issued as written, they are not absolutely required to do so. Politics can trump expertise as we have seen here in town. Now, this very week, is the time for the citizens of the Coastal Bend to remind the TCEQ that we do not want that filthy, dangerous plant here. They need to know that the City Council was voting against the will of their constituents when they voted to give water to Las Brisas and that the people of this community have been saying all along that we do not want our children exposed to the toxic air pollution that Las Brisas would produce.

Please write to the TCEQ Commissioners at the below addresses this week and ask them to listen to the ruling of the administrative law judges on the contested air permit for Las Brisas. Ask them to protect our community by denying the permit. Mama says write letters! We can keep our children safe!
