Brass Proponents have Press Conference
Self appointed spokesperson for Grow Corpus, Diane LaMorte Metz held a news conference where she and 29 other supporters expressed their support for the Brass Real Estate deal killed by the Council last week. While she refused several requests for an interview before WtP had to leave, City Councilman and Ice Rayz part owner Brent Chesney was there cheering the effort, wearing a green growcorpus t-shirt and commented that he still supports the deal.
He stated that the deal should be completed with Brass then sort out whether the area is a park. Chesney also said that Mayor Joe Adame or Mayor Pro Tem Priscilla Leal could put it back on the agenda and that Leal had backed it from the beginning. Chesney was asked if the obvious park status of the site doesn't make the matter of Brass mute. Mayor Adame's acknowledged, on the Jim Lago show, that the site is a park and would require a vote of the people before title insurance required for funding, would be possible. Chesney answered that John Bell had issued an opinion and he trusted that (see Parkland article this page). When asked if as a title company representative he would garauntee title insurance would be available, he declined to give an opinion. Saying we just need to do the deal with Brass and worry about those issues later.
